In 2017 I got approached by David Hunter David Hunter and this Data-walking project. Data Walking is a funded research project exploring the potential of walking to gather environmental data and through multiple walks and visualisations build a rich picture of that area.
With the data and my own knowledge of the area, I wanted to make a visual portrait of North Greenwich based on the images collected. By using terminal tool ImageMagic I reduced the collection of images into the most dominant colour. The images on a map of North Greenwich based on the GPS coordinates found in the exifdata with the use of the Exiftool program on a grid in InDesign with a map of North Greenwich as the reference.
The area of North Greenwich is going through a lot of changes and will over the next 20 years see its landscape rise up with a number of new high rise buildings. But with the change, the colours of the landscape will change.
